Condolence: I first met Joe in the early 80's when he came over to my house with our friend Dave,and we played music together for the first time.. Our first fiddle/guitar/banjo jam turned into a close friendship of nearly 40 years. His passing has left us with the longing to share more life with him.The morning after his funeral I was moved to write the following poem.

FOR JOE

Thoughts of missing you, as I sit here today,

Searching for just, the right words to say,

Our friendship began, in days of more youth, I tell you these words, that are the plain truth,

The love of the music, and woodworking we shared, The spirit within, for which we most cared,

The spirit in the music, of that you were a teacher,
So insistent at times, you were surely a preacher,

Thru life’s ups and downs, growing close or apart, We all came together, when the music would start,

So, thou, from this physical, world you are gone, Your spirit, in the music, forever lives on.

Condolence: Joe was one of the first people i met when I moved to naples. His easy smile and welcoming way made me feel i had a home there. Our paths crossed over different intervals frequent when i played ball with him and less in later years as our paths went in different directions. What ill always remember is when we did run into each other it was always "timmy how are you?
'said with a big smile and a sincere wanting to get caught up. he was and will be remembered in my heart as someone i was proud to call a friend of mine. my heart to all those who have to live without his presence but take solace in knowing he is well remembered .

Condolence: Dear Jebb and family,
We've been reminiscing about Joe, his big smile, love of music, and overall friendliness. We always felt part of the group when he was around. It's not fair, the way life works. Some of us get such a short time. We know you have a lot to deal with, and we are sending you lots of love. Tears flowed in Tennessee this week, and we hope you will come and visit whenever you can. Condolence: To all my cousins & Joe's Family & Sweetheart,
Joe's passing is felt by all of us and I only wish I/we could be there to mourn with you. It has been a tough year for the Haberstro clan already and this just adds to that grief. Our hearts go out to all.

Condolence: I have wonderful memories of our children together. They were great friends and in turn I had the pleasure of knowing Joe. Always a smile and a friendly greeting. Joe was a proud father and a great man. We would talk and talk when he came to get Jedd. I will never forget him. My deepest sympathies, especially to you Jedd. We will always be here for you. Condolence: Back in the day when I worked at the "old mill building" on Academy Street, one of the nicest perks of the job was the fact that Joe and Bill (and others over time) would sit and pick just outside my office door. Such wonderful music. I'm so sorry to learn of his passing and send you my condolences and prayers.

Condolence: To the Thomas and Betty Haberstro family - I was so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I and my family (William, John, Adam and Katherine) share your loss and want you all to know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Joe is with his heavenly father now and rests in Gods love and everlasting glory. I am sorry I cannot make it to Tonawanda for the wake and funeral, but hopefuuly we can all get together this summer to celebrate Joe's life and my mom's(Janet). May Gods peace embrace you all.
