We will miss our grandma dearly - all of our childhood holidays spent in buffalo at her house with her and our grandpa. Although they have both now passed we will remember all the great times. Rest easy grandma. Love.

As we said final worldly goodbyes to Gail this afternoon (7/20/19) I wanted to take just a few lines to thank the woman who was my Mother-in-Law…..

First, I wanted to thank you for bringing into this world such a beautiful, giving and caring person- your daughter Kathy, my wife. I realize that without you I would have never met her and the kindness and joy she brings into my life would not be present. I have seen the selfless devotion Kathy bestowed on you, in particular across the last three years with her increasing involvement and compassionate care for you, all while she was trying to address serious medical issues herself. I can only say that you and Raymond raised one very decent and proper soul there in Kathy- awesome job!!!

Second, although I know this was probably one of the hardest things you ever had to do (given the extremely independent and shall we say “firm minded” approach that was innate in you) I wanted to thank you and let you know I was honored to be allowed to step in and assist when things became too much for you to handle from a paperwork, finance and billing standpoint. Not the most fun job in the world- but after we had that very significant heart to heart during one of your Nursing Home stays and you shared with me some of the pressures you were feeling from miles away- I was happy I could be there to assist and take control of something you could not. In some small way I can only hope that I helped relieve some of the stress which you confided in me…….. My efforts were of course dwarfed by the assistance of your children: Kathy, Michael and Beth (I state in deference/for clarification)- you were blessed to have them.

** So I say goodbye with love Gail; bless you and thank you- Tim Brown, Son-in-Law

PS- “I promise not to forget your drink next time I have to step in for Kathy and bring you your dinner”…. (all involved with her daily care know exactly what I am talking about!!!)

I have very fond memories of Mrs. Eldridge and her home, which was always warm, welcoming and full of love. I loved the time I spent in her home playing games like Pictionary, with all the Eldridge gals. Those hours were always full of fun and laughter.

I am very sorry for your loss.

Mrs. Eldridge was probably the first feminist I knew. That probably sounds strange, since her primary roles then were as daughter, wife, and mother. But she was also the woman you ran to in an emergency. She was grounded, pragmatic, and absolutely unflappable. And she fought for her girls (and any other ones that happened to be around) to have equal opportunity and support for sports and education. She just made things happen!

While actively parenting, she prioritized her time in maintaining and nurturing her female friendships: regularly playing cards and/or sports. It doesn't surprise me at all that her daughters consider her one of their best friends. She supported us in every way: to swim, play soccer, softball teams, riding bikes, and having great adventures. In the few minutes that were left at the end of the day, she took time for herself with a cup of tea and a good mystery.
She stayed active in our church and supported the public library system. And before it was popular, made sure the girls had STEM classes and were prepared for college. She and Mr. Eldridge also made sure we were all having fun: drive-in movies, July 4th fireworks, amusement parks, maintaining the favorite neighborhood pool where everyone played.
My condolences to the Eldridge family. We will all miss your Mom and be forever grateful for the open door at your home.
