I have very fond memories of Mrs. Eldridge and her home, which was always warm, welcoming and full of love. I loved the time I spent in her home playing games like Pictionary, with all the Eldridge gals. Those hours were always full of fun and laughter.

I am very sorry for your loss.

Mrs. Eldridge was probably the first feminist I knew. That probably sounds strange, since her primary roles then were as daughter, wife, and mother. But she was also the woman you ran to in an emergency. She was grounded, pragmatic, and absolutely unflappable. And she fought for her girls (and any other ones that happened to be around) to have equal opportunity and support for sports and education. She just made things happen!

While actively parenting, she prioritized her time in maintaining and nurturing her female friendships: regularly playing cards and/or sports. It doesn't surprise me at all that her daughters consider her one of their best friends. She supported us in every way: to swim, play soccer, softball teams, riding bikes, and having great adventures. In the few minutes that were left at the end of the day, she took time for herself with a cup of tea and a good mystery.
She stayed active in our church and supported the public library system. And before it was popular, made sure the girls had STEM classes and were prepared for college. She and Mr. Eldridge also made sure we were all having fun: drive-in movies, July 4th fireworks, amusement parks, maintaining the favorite neighborhood pool where everyone played.
My condolences to the Eldridge family. We will all miss your Mom and be forever grateful for the open door at your home.

Dear Michael, Jennifer, Jake, Alexa and Tyler,
I'm so sorry to hear of your Mom and Grandma's passing. I remember the way her face lit up when she talked about golf. I like to think she's up in Heaven playing 18 holes and having the best round ever. We're sending our prayers and thoughts to you all. Wishes for whatever brings you comfort during these difficult days. Love, Alan, Kristin, Eli, Mia & Sam xxxooo

Words cannot express how deeply saddened I am for the loss of my mother. Along with my sister, she was my very best friend. We did so many things together, too numerous to list. My mother loved golf so much. She was an amazing golfer and she started the sport so late in life. She went out the first time with one of her friends. She was in her 40s. She had her golf clubs in an old bat bag from my father. At the golf course my mom was paired with an older man who had a spare golf bag in his car. He gave it to my mom and said "I've been waiting for someone who really needs a golf bag." Mom was off and running. She won numerous tournaments over the years and shocked and surprised me every time I golfed with her. For my job, I was required to travel around the country. I was fortunate to be able to bring my mother to the Virgin Islands for a nice vacation there with me while I was working. The two of us traveled back to the VI around ten years ago. We also took a nice trip to Vegas together as well as several trips to DC to visit my sister. Three years ago, I became very ill with cancer. Mom had just moved over to Grand Island so she could be closer to me so I could better care for her. I could not do a lot with my mother due to my numerous surgeries, treatments, and dr. appointments, but mom understood. She wanted nothing more than for me to recover and I mostly did. I was moving mom to a beautiful river road house when she was stricken ill. I want to thank my husband Tim, my brother Michael, sister-in-law Jen, sister Beth, and brother-in-law Frank for helping me take care of my ailing mother. I will always remember her love of couponing, the casino, sports (golf, tennis, volleyball), shopping and the way she cared for her family. Rest in peace mom. You are irreplaceable and I will miss you more than I can express. You were the best mother ever!
