What I remember about Mr. Kubala....well, his unique sense of humor is right up there. He was always trying to get a laugh out of people, often with a series of one liners that he came up with on the fly. I have no doubt that his humor contributed to the sale of so many appliances at Sears. The time he appeared on the TV show, Bowling for Dollars also stands out in my mind. I know that he was very devoted to his family, as well as the golf course. Family always came first, though. The love he had for his family is what really stands out the most. May you rest in peace, Mr. Kubala. I know you're already cracking them up on the other side. - Jamie's friend since sixth grade, Randy A.

Sheridan Park Golf Club

One of the greatest things about the Sheridan Park Golf Club is the cast of characters that make it so unique - and George was one of the best characters - by far. The Hole-in-1 Club, the 3 Stooges shirts, and the incredible stories. What a wonderful man! He will be sorely missed around the Club and we all express our deepest sympathies to his family and close friends.

The Sheridan Golf Club has always been known for having a diverse “cast of characters”. None were more renown and recognizable than George. His presence, energy and endless support of the club will be sorely missed. My sympathies go out to his family and I sincerely believe that he is now at peace, holding court in heaven and sharing his jokes & stories with those that have passed before. God bless you George and Rest In Peace.

George never walked, he pranced and when you owed him $2. he stalked. He was a character, the type of guy who'd don a construction helmet at the golf course (he got hit on the head once), raise a "Quiet Please" sign when someone was putting, sport a Three Stooges t-shirt and very occasionally wear a pair of shorts - oh, those legs. He told the worst jokes, always collected money for raffles and had at least a million stories about the legends of Sheridan. I loved listening to him and in his declining years he would take great delight in seeing the "boys" at one of our outings while regaling us all of his holes in one. George was the kind of character every club needs: a tad goofy, always willing to volunteer, a man who loyally loved his family and a friend too many. Thank you for your years of service to Sheridan Park Golf Club, for the easy laughs and for the friendship that I will surely miss. May your next putt always find its target.
