I had known Fred since the mid-80's working on the Grand Island Bridges in my early career as an Inspector. He was an mentor in my early career in bridge and highway construction, Without his mentoring, I would not have been nearly as successful over the years. He was a wonderful human being, fun loving and kind. The world has lost an awesome man.

Joanne and family: I was very saddened on hearing of Fred's passing. I have known Fred since the early '90's thru ABCD WNY. He added passion and a sense of pure dedication to his time in the organization, and drove all of us to move the group to a leading role in Western New York bridge community. ABCD WNY would not be where it is today without Fred; the organization provides education, camaraderie, and leadership to the WNY chapters because of his spirit and leadership, and the chapter leads the way of the bridge organizations in NY due to his vision. I am truly blessed and honored to have known him and worked with him during my career - he was an inspiration to us "younger" engineers!

I had the pleasure of getting to know Fred through our work at NY SEMO. Visiting Fred and Gino was always the highlight of any trip I had to Buffalo - be it his homemade wine (and spilling it in his van), pasta fasoola at Santasiero's, or just talking about our families, Fred's warmth and kindness always made me feel like I was a member of his family, not just a coworker. He and I spoke so many times through our years working together, I think I still have his SEMO cell memorized - I know he would have gotten a kick out of that!

I will remember Fred incredibly fondly. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who loved him.

I will always remember Fred for his enjoyment of and devotion to opera. He was a proud member of OperaBuffs, including serving as president of the organization many years ago. I shall miss his enthusiasm and knowledge.

I first met Fred in New York City while we were deployed by (then SEMO) for the 911 Disaster. I never had any experience as this was my first disaster deployment but Fred made my stay there much more palatable due to his great personality. I will never forget that experience and be forever grateful to him for making my first deployment as good as it was. I am still employed by DHSES, Recovery Section in Albany, NY and will always remember him fondly.
My sincerest condolences to the family and friends for the great loss and remind all that Fred is now enjoying his greatest reward for a life well lived.
