I wanted to express my condolences to Jerry and all the extended McMahon family on the passing of Ron. I was very fond of him and will also miss him and his kind, warm and caring nature and great wit. I thought I would try to provide some words of comfort and reflection on his “passing.” For I realize he really hasn’t passed that far away and if you look, you will see that he actually still lives on within us all, but most especially the best parts of Ron live on in unique and distinctive ways in each of his six children who he loved so much. Ron loved to sing and perform, in church choirs and barber shop quartets. You will see that part of him living on in Mary and her children, singing and performing. Ron was a dedicated professional and dentist. You will see that part of him living on in Cathy, a consummate professional and dentist (but not the singing part). Ron also loved to work with his hands, even helping to build the house he lived in for the last 60 years, and to fish on so many creeks, rivers lakes and bays, and was a loving dedicated father of six. You will find that part of him living on in Sean, working with his hands, fishing and as a loving dedicated father of six. Ron provided a great example of faith in God and love for and trust in his savior Jesus. You will see that part of him most clearly living on in Siobhan with her faith. Ron loved to be outdoors in nature, and you will see that part of him most clearly living on in Brendan and his love of nature and the outdoors. And of course Ron had a wit second to none, wisdom and a protective and caring nature for his children, and I have always thought Peggy resembled Ron in her personality and manner and the most with her wit, wisdom and protective and caring nature for our children. So light a candle in the bathroom for me to show that Ron actually still lives on in us that remain here for now.

Here are some songs that express these sentiments better than me which I hope will give you comfort.

We think of Ron as a dedicated family man. His stories, invariably funny, were mostly about his much loved family. He was so proud of his children, grand children and great grand children. And, of course, his much beloved wife Jerry.
We will miss Ron’s gentle nature and good humor whenever we were fortunate to be in his company. R.I.P. Ron.
