I recently had a conversation about how the Iacobelli's made homemade sauce. Uncle Mike & Micheal would walk through the door with a basket of tomatoes, the kitchen was filled with tomatoes, mason jars & people. Everyone took part in the steps to create the sauce, boiling the tomatoes, peeling the tomatoes with a knife, cleaning the mason jars, adding basil to the mason jars. My aunt was a very good cook and wanted only the best for her family. The conversation in the background was... my aunt saying Micheal I wanted you to cut the grass..." I will ma..." My uncle would always have some cute comment or joke to lighten the room, "this is the way italians do things Col" with a smile. Carol would be saying ma I told you I would stop out next weekend with the kids" My aunt would say "oh marone look at all of these tomatoes, we will be here all day" as she is thinking I want this kitchen spotless. Meanwhile a dog would be walking across the floor as she loves animals my aunt always had dogs, cats & birds surrounded by her. I miss her sauce, her cooking, homemade pizza and her conversation, she was very special to me.
